We aim to expand our slow fashion collection with new 100% organic sweaters, and when we say “organic,” we mean it: Our sweaters are made from recycled and fully sustainable natural materials. They’re dyed only with natural dyes, giving them a feel like nothing you've ever experienced before. The entire production process is carried out under fair conditions, with respect for people and nature.

Our Backstory
Once upon a time, there was an Amur Leopard, an animal on the verge of extinction. This once-beautiful creature now risks disappearing. In 2020, we, Achilles and the Tortoise, decided to take action. We wanted to make a difference in fashion. With our first product, the Amur Tee, we donated 33% of proceeds to the World Wildlife Fund to help save the Amur Leopard. That was the beginning of our mission: sustainable fashion with real impact.

Now, four years later, after campaigns with WWF and Club Kakatua, we remain committed to people and nature. We – Willem, Matthijs, and Don – work with love and dedication on a clothing line that is not only beautiful but also tells stories. Clothing should be fun and sexy, but it can be more: it can inspire and motivate action.

How We Can Change the Fashion Industry
With each garment, we come a step closer to a regenerative, locally produced, slow fashion brand. We started with t-shirts and long sleeves, and now we’re moving on to sweaters. Sweaters that not only feel great but also contribute to a better planet.

With these sweaters, we’re working hard toward the next step in our dream: a circular, fully Dutch production chain based on locally grown crops. The launch of our innovative, circular hemp collection was our first step. Will you help us make this dream a reality?

Your Sweater
Our sweaters are more than just clothing—they’re designed to last generations and contribute to a better future. Made from 50% recycled cotton and 50% fully organic GOTS-certified cotton, these sweaters combine sustainability with style. The sturdy 500g/m² fabric ensures your sweater lasts a long time, which is not only better for the environment but also saves you money.

Circular Future
When your sweater reaches the end of its life, you can return it to us and receive 10% of the purchase price back. Together, we’re working towards a circular economy, like the deposit on a bottle. Using one material also makes the sweater easy to recycle.

Health and Safety
Our sweaters contain no harmful substances. They are dyed with natural ingredients like algae and treated with coconut wash, making them wonderfully soft, comfortable, and safe for your skin.

To produce this collection, we need €20,000. This will pay for the production of our sweaters. With a maximum amount of €40,000, we’ll take an even bigger step: expanding our slow fashion collection further with regenerative products based on local materials.

  Imagine being one of the first to wear an 'Achilles and the Tortoise' sweater. By supporting us now, you help make production possible and gain first access to our sweaters. They will be produced in limited editions.

• Try On Your Sweater at One of Our Pop-Ups
  It’s important that you feel comfortable in your sweater. We also want to avoid surplus stock. Come see and try on the sweater at one of our pop-ups to ensure the right size. Dates will be announced soon.

• Choose Your Contribution and Reward
  For every contribution, you’ll receive a voucher to choose your products in the Achilles and the Tortoise webshop. Once we reach our goal, you’ll be invited via email to select your sweater size and style.

• Pick Up Your Sweater
  Yes, we made it! Thanks to your support, we could begin production. Pick up your sweater at our ‘we made it’ party or have it shipped to you.
